Market Days at Sunset Stables
About 100 chickens, a dozen geese, guinea fowl, goats, horses, a dog, cats, and bees (with hive) live at Sunset Stables.
And all are employees.
Karen Prechtel has transformed this local farmette, complete with garden and greenhouse into an organic oasis.
Creating and selling homemade skin care from soaps to shampoos, Karen has been more than pleased with the response to her products.
She’s even flipped a horse trailer into a mobile store.
“It just made sense,” she said. “I had been doing farmers markets and my husband said, ‘well, let’s give it a year’.”
One year later and Karen was able to host a grand opening “Market Day” on Sept. 13.
Guests received tours and information about Sunset Stable products--including teas, candles, honey, eggs as well as skin care.
“We don’t always know what’s in our skin care products,” she says.
She recently posted about toxins hidden in merchandise.
“I’m so happy to see so many people who want to make the switch to natural products.”
The scents of lavender, oranges and pumpkin spice intrigues even the youngest of customers.
Koden Johnson, 7, declared that orange cinnamon and clove soap is “cool.”
Karen also does her part by supporting and working with other local farms.
She will continue to have Market Days on Saturdays to offer new and returning clients a local way to a healthier lifestyle.
As her mottos says: “Let’s Stay Healthy Together!”
