Small Business Saturday to be held Nov. 29

Emmaus Borough Council met Nov. 3 at Emmaus Borough Hall where Mayor Lee Ann Gilbert began by praising the volunteers and borough staff for their efforts during the Halloween parade. She said it was a tremendous turnout and she was happy it was another success.

Additionally, Councilman Roy Anders thanked all those who participated in the e-waste day.

During communications, council reviewed a couple of requests.

The Emmaus Main Street Partners submitted a request to host the borough’s annual Small Business Saturday celebration 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Emmaus Triangle. This will be the first time the event will take place in the borough.

Additionally, Pastor Rebecca Mallozzi, with Faith Church, requested approval to hold the annual Christmas Eve gathering at Triangle Park.

Council also accepted the resignation of Taylor Branciforte, who served the borough in an undisclosed capacity.

Routine reports from the borough engineer and solicitor followed, with no major new projects or legal concerns reported. There were no items under unfinished business or new business.

Committee reports outlined the upcoming meeting schedule for various departments. The public works committee is scheduled to meet 4:45 p.m. Nov. 10, while health, sanitation and codes will convene Nov. 18. Parks and Recreation will next meet Dec. 18 and public safety is set for Nov. 12. General administration will meet 9 a.m. Nov. 5 and budget and finance will meet 11 a.m. Nov. 5. The community relations, planning and development committee planned to meet 4:45 p.m. Nov. 4.

The budget and finance committee presented Resolution 2025-32, approving the latest bill list and reviewed the year-to-date budget performance report and the significant revenue and expense report for October. Council members noted the borough’s financial performance remains stable heading into the final months of the year.

Under board and commission reports, council acknowledged receipt of the Friends of the 1803 House September meeting minutes and the treasurer’s report.

In the his report, Borough Manager Shane Pepe announced the promotion of firefighter Justin Haman to Firefighter Level 2, recognizing his commitment and progress within the department. Council members congratulated Haman for his service and professionalism.

The next Emmaus Borough Council meeting will take place 6 p.m. Nov. 17.
