‘Harvey’ opens Nov. 6 at Salisbury High School
It’s time for the Salisbury High School Theatre production of “Harvey.” Grab your tickets and come out to see our talented students put on a show about a kind man whose best friend happens to be an invisible 6-foot rabbit. This production is a heartwarming and hilarious story about friendship, imagination and how we can imagine the world a little differently. These students are sure to do a great job with this and it’ll be a must see! Showtimes are 7 p.m. Nov. 6, 7 and 8 and 2 p.m. Nov. 9. Tickets are available at the door.
Salisbury Elementary School will hold a craft and vendor show at SHS 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 8. This is a great time to get a jump start on holiday shopping and even grab something special for yourself. There is always tons of amazing vendors with great items available.
SES will hold its annual Veterans Day celebration Nov. 11. A Veterans breakfast will be offered 7:15-8:30 a.m. in the SES cafeteria. Veterans who are family members of students and staff or a community member will be treated to a full breakfast. The second event for that day will be the Walkway Greeting 8:40-9:05 a.m. where veterans will be invited to join each other and line the main hallway to greet students as they enter the school to start their day. SHS will hold a blood drive with Keystone Memorial 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 11. Students must be 16 years of age, have a parent permission slip completed and present a photo ID. Students can make appointments with Mrs. Basile or via giveapint.org. There are also QR codes in the community newsletter to make an appointment. Students who donate four times during their high school career will be given a red cord for graduation in recognition for their generosity.
It’s time for the insanely popular Salisbury Falcon Twirlers Designer and Boutique Purse Bingo. Bingo will be held at Salisbury Middle School Nov. 16. Doors open noon and games begin 1 p.m. Tickets are discounted in advance and will also be available at the door for a higher price. Tickets include 15 bingo games; you can also add on four special games for an additional charge. There will be raffles, refreshments and door prizes. This is always a very popular and fun event. Do you have any band instruments sitting around in your home? Did you know you can donate them to the school district? This can give a child who may not have otherwise had a chance, to learn to play an instrument and play in band. Accepted instruments include: flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, French horns, baritones, tubas, snare drums and sticks and bell kits. Instruments can be dropped off at the administration building and questions can be directed to 610-797-2062, ext. 1000.
The next school board meeting will be held in the administration building 7 p.m. Nov. 19. Meetings are held in person and live streamed and available on the district’s YouTube channel. Go to school board meeting – recordings under the school board section on salisburysd.org.
Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury, 1707 Church Road, Allentown, will hold a basket social 6 p.m. Nov. 7. Doors will be open noon to 6 p.m. for those who want to participate but unable to attend the social. For more information, call 610-866-1611.
Jerusalem Church will also hold a bingo 2 p.m. Nov. 16 at the church. Doors open 1 p.m. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
The township recycling drop off sites are open for a few more weekends. The Franko Farm site will open Nov. 6 and 8 and the Devonshire site will be open Nov. 10, 13 and 15. Drop off center hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
