EHS names student of the week

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. I have a mom named Nicole, a dad named Shawn, a brother named Christian, a sister named Mia and a dog named Nora.

Q. Do you have any specific goals that you will pursue this academic year?

A. I would like to apply myself to the fullest in all of my classes, making sure I understand the information to the best of my ability in order to set myself up for success.

Q. What is your favorite class at Emmaus High School? Why?

A. My favorite class at Emmaus High School is AP Precalculus, as it touched on the subjects of math I most thoroughly enjoyed. The atmosphere of the class with Mr. Hildebrand is also a pleasure, and I looked forward to coming into that class to learn daily.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I am a member of National Honor Society, French Honor Society, an AP Scholar with Distinction and have made the Principal Honor Roll each year of high school since my freshman year.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I am a swimmer for the high school swim team, where I dedicate countless hours each week to improve and refine my strokes. I also swim for the Emmaus Aquatic Club, which runs year-round and helps me stay in shape for meets. I am also a member of Chess Club and Interact Club for high school. Outside of school, I work for Lehigh Country Club as a lifeguard over the summer and volunteer for many different organizations. These activities have helped me learn how to better manage my time and take responsibility in my actions whilst also helping me experience opportunities outside of academics to thrive.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge to date was learning how to balance a high school course load with all of my extracurriculars in freshman year. Through a long process of learning from my mistakes, I now feel more confident than ever in handling all of my responsibilities and feel I have truly grown since then.

Q. At this time, what are your plans for the future beyond high school?

A. I wish to major in engineering at a university. I enjoy problem solving and making changes in the world, so engineering has always fascinated me as my contributions could serve to improve the lives of numerous people.

Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with an historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?

A. I would choose FDR, as I admire his ability to overcome such a great obstacle of the Great Depression, then immediately head into a time of war and stay resilient leading the country. I strive to have the motivation and courage to come back when times get hard, so he is definitely the person I would like to converse with.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered for making a difference in the lives of others, whether it be through my contributions through engineering or my interactions with people. I am a firm believer in using your life to make a significant change for the betterment of people, so to affect the lives of people in a positive way would be ideal.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Don’t get hung up on what could have happened in the past, for you cannot change that. The only thing you can control is the future, so focus all of your energy onto making that the best for yourself.
