Art lovers and those who enjoy a good heist story no doubt have been following the bold theft of historic jewelry valued at $102 million from the Louvre in Paris in October.
Another valuable object taken from the storied museum is the Mona Lisa, stolen in 1911 by a former employee of the museum. The painting was missing for two years.
Those curious to why the painting is so special may want to join the seminar “An Artist’s Secret Geometry: The Golden Section and other Systems of Dynamic Composition” presented by Charlie Daniels scheduled 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at Southern Lehigh Public Library, 3200 Preston Lane, Center Valley.
The library is the home library for Lower Milford Township residents.
Daniels will talk about Leonardo da Vinci’s use of harmonic composition and proportion in the famous painting. Visit the library website www.solehipl.org for details.
Those wanting to take matters of art into their own hands may want to visit the library 6-7 p.m. Nov. 10 for a craft night for adults. Participants will make paper pumpkins. This is an event reserved for those 18 years and older. Visit the library website for information.
On Nov. 12 the Friends of the Southern Lehigh Public Library will continue the Evenings With Friends speaker series with the talk “Winter is for Garden Design” by Lori Metz.
