Shirley Matlack

of Macungie

Shirley Matlack, 81, of Macungie, died Oct. 23, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born in Chester to Helen and Jake Verbella. She grew up in the Reading area.

She was the wife of Tyce Matlack for 65 years.

Throughout her life, she was known for her devotion to family, very strong work ethic and love of animals especially dogs and cats.

She worked for numerous employers in manufacturing and retired from Lucent Technologies, Reading, after a lengthy career.

Outside of work, she enjoyed camping, going for long walks, landscaping around the house and cherished time spent with family and her generations of beloved pets.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Jeffrey (Kimberly); sister, Nora Altemose (Clair); grandchildren, Nicole Fehr (Michael), Andrew; step-grandchildren, Daniel Warnander (Alexis), Kathleen Zastko (Andrew); seven great-grandchildren; nephew, Rodney Altemose (Steven); niece, Robin Guggenberger (Daniel).
