Roughies Report: High school students experience real-life career opportunities

Kudos to the Catasauqua High School students who recently had the incredible opportunity to visit Serfass Construction and Development, where they experienced how a building comes to life — from blueprints and renderings to the active construction site of the $52 million Allentown waterfront project, featuring 201 luxury apartments. Students connected with professionals across the industry, including architects, plumbers, electricians, roofers, HVAC technicians and project managers, gaining real-world insight into the many career paths that bring major projects like this to reality.

This experience reflects Catasauqua Area School District’s continued commitment to career education by helping students explore opportunities that align with their interests and future goals.

The PIAA District XI recently announced the inductees of the Class of 2025 to the District XI Hall of Fame. Congratulations to Jonathan Linton, CHS Class of 1993, on his recent induction into the hall of fame.

Linton finished his high school career as one of the most dominant two-way players in the history of District XI. Excelling as both a running back and linebacker, he earned all-league and all-state recognition, finishing his high school career with more than 4,000 rushing yards. He helped lead the Rough Riders to three consecutive District XI championships.

He went on to the University of North Carolina, where he rushed for more than 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior and also played for the Buffalo Bills and the Tennessee Titans. Linton is one of only two players in the history of Catasauqua football to have his jersey number retired and has become the seventh individual with Rough Rider ties to be inducted into the District XI Hall of Fame, which began in 2018.

Congratulations on this tremendous achievement!
