Pastor Bruce MacLaughlin, 76, of Whitehall, died Oct. 27, 2025. He was the husband of Dottie MacLaughlin for 54 years.
Born in Binghamton, N.Y., he was a son of the late Walter and Ruth MacLaughlin.
After graduating from B. Reed Henderson High School, he attended Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, where he earned a degree in business administration and management. He later attended Hamma School of Theology and graduated from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in 1981.
He served as a pastor for 34 years, before retiring in 2015. He was known for his compassionate leadership and commitment to community outreach, serving as pastor for the deaf for 10 years. He touched countless lives through youth ministries, outreach to the underprivileged, counseling and mission work. He also served as a camp director for various church camps.
He is survived by three children, Doug with Kate, Jennifer with Rob and Matt with Bekah; six grandchildren, Mackenzie, Alysa with Nick, Gavin with Chloe, Ava, Samantha and Kennedy; a great-granddaughter, Lainey; and a brother, W. Scott with Petra.
There will be a calling time 9:30 a.m., followed by a celebration of life 11 a.m., Nov. 7 in Fritze Hall at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 835 Third St., Whitehall.
