District News: Presentation on school system to be held Nov. 8

Whitehall Lions Club will hold a presentation titled “History of the School System in Whitehall Township — 1844-present,” set for 1-2:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main St., Whitehall. It is free public talk with historian Karen Gensey, who will cover the development of education from the one-room schoolhouses to the present-day district campus.

Call Shari at 610-730-8067 for reservations. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Parking is in the back of the church; enter from the back of the church. Accessible parking is available on the lower level in the front west side of the building.

National Association for College Admission Counseling will hold a free virtual college fair 1-6 p.m. Nov. 9. Visit the Whitehall-Coplay School District website to register.

There will be a Pennsylvania health care virtual career day, set for 9-10:30 a.m. Nov. 13, for any senior interested. Once registered, email your counselor or stop by the office so that space for participation can be coordinated.

Mark your calendar: Whitehall-Coplay Middle School Theatre’s production of “Disney’s High School Musical Jr.” will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 14 and 15 and 1 p.m. Nov. 16.

Science National Honor Society is sponsoring a Thanksgiving food drive for Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative to make everyone’s Thanksgiving a wonderful holiday.

Bring any unopened canned or boxed Thanksgiving food items to Mrs. Cucco’s room in D107. The donation deadline is Nov. 17.

The winter sports season will officially begin during the week of Thanksgiving. If you are interested in joining a winter sport, reach out to the various coaches ASAP, as time is winding down. See the athletics department for more information.

The meet the team night will be Nov. 25 in the gymnasium.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America will be hosting a holiday drive to help benefit those in need in our community. The drive will continue through Dec. 3. Consider donating unused clothing, canned food and/or hygiene items to the main office.

There is a free Northampton Community College seminar, set for 5-7 p.m. Dec. 11, for parents/guardians to learn about the federal financial aid application, what your role is as the parent on your child’s FAFSA and how to open your FAFSA account. Laptops will be available to assist with account opening after general information is provided.
