Administrators reappointed

Two top administrators in Northampton Area School District have been reappointed.
NASD Board of Education voted unanimously 9-0 at its Oct. 13 meeting to approve the contract for Dr. Michelle Schoeneberger as NASD assistant superintendent for 2026-27 through 2030-31 at $166,000 during the 2026-27 school year.
School directors also voted 9-0 to approve the contract for Dr. Michael Alogna as NASD director of operations for 2026-27 through 2030-31 at $143,160 during the 2026-27 school year.
In other business at the Oct. 13 meeting, school directors voted 9-0 to approve:
• Nicole Barthol, long-term substitute special education teacher at Lehigh Elementary School, retroactively effective Aug. 18 to last day of the 2025-26 school year, at $63,655 and maintain ESPA benefits
• Gillian Armstrong, second semester, long-term substitute sixth-grade science teacher at Northampton Area Middle School, effective Jan. 12, 2026, at $64,455, prorated, with benefits
• Ty Hooven, math teacher at Northampton Area High School, effective Feb. 9, 2026, at $64,266, prorated, with benefits
• Caitlyn Tomaro, long-term substitute fourth-grade teacher at Moore Elementary School, retroactively effective Sept. 15, at $63,655, prorated
• Amanda Snyder, one-to-one special education instructional assistant at Lehigh Elementary, retroactively effective Oct. 6, at $21.38 per hour, with benefits
• Jalissa Espaillat, cafeteria monitor at Franklin Elementary School, effective Oct. 14, at $20.63 per hour
• Resignation of Carol Marano, fifth-grade teacher at Moore Elementary, for retirement, effective Jan. 30, 2026
• Resignation of Steffanie Breininger, school-based behavioral health counselor at Siegfried Elementary School, effective Oct. 13
• Resignation of Allison Rosene, cafeteria monitor at Siegfried Elementary, effective Oct. 8
• Attendance of two employees from NASD business office at Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials annual conference, March 24-27, 2026, at an estimated cost of $1,918, included in the NASD 2025-26 budget
• Mick Sugra, Ian Luberti, Jarad Haupt, Jeff Erschen, Will Stackhouse and approximately 32 student-athletes to attend Kaylee Scholarship Association Events baseball spring training and tournament, Orlando, Fla., at $1,884 for substitutes, included in the NASD budgets for NAHS and Lehigh Elementary
• National Association of School Resource Officer mandatory attendance of Stephen Milkovits, school security officer, and Dawn Gutkowski, security guard, for a basic school resource officer training course Dec. 15-19, in Archbald, at approximately $1,200 plus mileage, included in 2025-26 NASD budget
• Affiliation agreement with Kutztown University and NASD, effective Oct. 14
• Agreement with Project of Easton to provide 16 sessions of English as a second language family and parent engagement program at $2,000, paid through Title III
• Provider services agreement with Lehigh Valley Health Network and NASD, as of Oct. 14
• BerkOne to prepare and mail homestead applications on behalf of NASD in accordance with Act 72 of 2004 and Act 1 of 2006, at a cost of $0.4204 per mailing
• Authorize administration to prepare and solicit annual bids for supplies and services for the 2026-27 school year: maintenance, custodial supplies; instructional, general supplies; and gasoline, diesel, fuel oil and natural gas
• Accept and approve vendor(s) for fuel oil for the 2026-27 school year as recommended by Northampton, Monroe, Pike County Joint Purchasing Board and to be approved by Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 board of directors at its January 2026 meeting
• Addendum allowing Portnoff Law Associates, Ltd., to collect NASD 2025 and 2026 delinquent real estate taxes
• Award food service equipment bid for East Allen Elementary School to Chef’s Depot Inc., $29,561.21, and Singer Equipment, $20,903.33
• Letter of agreement between NASD and Colonial IU 20 for providing remedial instruction in reading and math to nonproficient students in qualifying nonpublic schools, at $34,428 for instruction and $348 for parent-involvement programming. The Colonial IU 20 administrative service fee is 3% of the total amount. The costs for instruction and parent-involvement programming at the nonpublic school are covered through the 2025-26 Title I grant.
The board of education next meets 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10 in the auditorium at NAHS, 1619 Laubach Ave., Northampton.
