Union Lutheran Church, Route 873, Schnecksville, will host houseplant bingo Nov. 9. Doors will open 11:30 a.m. and bingo begins 1 p.m. There will be special games for rare plants, basket raffles and a 50/50 drawing.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, will present a walk-in basket social 5-8 p.m. Nov. 7 and 9 a.m.to 3 p.m. Nov. 8. Food and baked goods will be available for take-out only.

St. John’s is collecting clothing and household items for the Recycle Local organization through Nov. 16. Everything is shipped to people in need around the world. Nothing is shredded or cut into industrial rags.

In addition to clothing and shoes for people of all ages, the drive will accept accessories such as backpacks and purses, household items including bedding, towels and draperies, pots and pans, soft toys such as stuffed animals and Beanie Babies and hard toys such as cars, trucks and action figures.
