MONUMENT CEREMONY: Marine Corps Monument Ceremony celebrating the 248th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps, Friday, Nov 10, 4 to 4:30 p.m., Marine Corps Monument, Cedar Beach Park, 24th and Hamilton streets, Allentown. The Bethlehem and Lehigh Valley Marine Corps League detachments and the local Inspector-Instructor staff of India Battery in Allentown will be participating in the annual ceremony, along with other Marines, Fleet Marine Force Sailors in the community. The program lasts approximately 30 minutes and includes a ceremony, color guard, bugle rendition of the Marine Corps Hymn, a soloist singing the National Anthem, etc. A cake cutting ceremony honoring the oldest and youngest Marines will be held afterward.

CRAFT FAIR: Northampton Community College’s Alumni Association will hold their annual spring Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center Gym and Laub Lounge, located at NCC’s Bethlehem campus. Over 180 crafters will be exhibiting and selling their handmade crafts, such as jewelry, food, woodworking and more. The event has become so popular that NCC has expanded the event to include crafters on the second floor of College Center in Laub Lounge, just upstairs from the Spartan Center Gym. There will be a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., so be sure to bring your camera!

Proceeds from the craft fair benefit student and career readiness programming. NCC will be collecting nonperishable food items and toiletries for the student run food pantries.

General admission is $2, seniors (62 and over) and NCC students are $1, and children under 12 are free.

GARDEN CLUB: The Bethlehem Garden Club is having a presentation on “Wreaths for the Holidays,” presented by Sarah Petryk on Thursday, Nov. 20, at Advent Moravian Church, 3730 Jacksonville Road, Bethlehem. Doors Open at 12:30 p.m. Program at 1 followed by club meeting and refreshments.

HISTORICAL SEWING: The Hellertown Historical Society (HHS) is inviting volunteer seamstresses to join a new program that will recreate authentic colonial-period clothing. These garments will be worn by the society’s volunteer tour guides and field trip docents to enhance the educational experience for visitors at the historic Heller-Wagner Grist Mill Complex.

A kickoff meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 22, in the Tavern Room at 150 West Walnut St., Hellertown. The meeting will introduce participants to the program and outline the upcoming workshops.

The initiative will be led by Robin Marchionni, a living historian and experienced seamstress specializing in colonial attire. Robin will teach classes beginning in early 2026.

VOLUNTEER CONFERENCE: The Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley is hosting its second annual Nonprofit Impact Conference Nov. 6, at the Wind Creek Event Center. Following the success of the inaugural event, this year’s conference promises to be even more transformative, with a focus of “Strengthening Connections & Navigating Change.”

The event will connect nonprofits together, help them gain actionable insights from expert-led breakout sessions, and discover innovative strategies to help amplify their mission.

NEW WEBSITE: Industrial Archives & Library (IAL) has launched a new website for the organization. It includes a unified search function to allow easier access to its library, archival and digital assets.

“We are very proud of our new website that places an emphasis on the ease of the search process. In addition, it will contain substantially more content, which is a major step forward in the evolution of our organization,” said IAL President and CEO Stephen G. Donches. “Not only is it clean and visually dynamic, but it will greatly enhance the ability of researchers to more easily find the information and materials they are seeking, which is at the heart of our mission,” stated Donches.

The launch coincides with the implementation of IAL’s digital asset management system, which allows the organization to digitize and make available to researchers the IAL’s growing digital collections. For more information, visit industrialarchives.org
