Trunk or treat
East Allen Township’s Bicentennial Park, 5351 Park West Lane, was the setting for a trunk or treat Oct. 25. It was a pleasant evening for many families, their costumed children and even their pets.
East Allen Township Recreation Director Chuck Frantz and township fire Deputy Chief Ray Henry said they were delighted with the turnout, the colorful costumes and the teamwork that made this memory-making event possible.
East Allen Township Volunteer Fire Department helped run the event.
Numerous Halloween-decorated vehicles, complete with candy for kids, were parked all around the large parking area. There were games and awards given for best costumes and best decorated trunk.
There was even a costume parade that included pets.
Paul Warnock and Kristy Bucha, with their youngster Kendall and pooch named Chooch, of Saylorsburg, were impressed by the quality and size of the trunk or treat. They were all smiles as they walked from trunk to trunk.
There were many scary adult costumes, including a spooky clown costume worn by Linda Arias, of Greenbriar Village of Bath. Arias was dressed like a clown from the movie “Killer Clowns from Outer Space.” She said she loved participating in the event.
There were a number of pets at the event, including Angela Henry’s mixed Labrador rescue puppy named Ruby. Dressed in a green baby dinosaur costume, Ruby had many attendees stop and offer a greeting.
The fire department also sponsors a large December holiday celebration. Additional volunteers are needed. Visit eastallenfire.org to learn about this active public service organization and perhaps consider joining to assist the fire department, even if just financially.
The well-organized, Halloween-themed gathering was an enjoyable memory-making event and a community-strengthening effort.
