SHS Theatre presents “Harvey” Nov. 6-9

If it feels like time is passing by at warp speed lately and seeing Christmas decorations in the stores is making you feel as if we are hurtling toward the holiday season well, buckle up because we will be sitting around the Thanksgiving table soon!
Fall is a very busy time in the Salisbury Township School District as well as the community so get your calendars ready so you don’t miss out on the fun.
Picture retake day at Salisbury High School will be held Oct. 29. Picture retake day at Salisbury Elementary School will be Nov. 3. If your child is having his/her picture retaken their original photo package must be returned on that day.
Schools will be closed for a professional development day Nov. 4.
Nov. 7 will be a T-shirt day at SES and at the middle school eighth grade students will tour Lehigh Career & Technical Institute.
SHS Theatre has been busy with rehearsals for the fall play “Harvey” which will run Nov. 6-9.
Be on the lookout for little ghosts and goblins in and around your neighborhood as Salisbury Township will hold trick-or-treat night 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.
Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury, 1707 Church Road, Allentown, will host a basket social 6 p.m. Nov. 7. If you cannot make the basket social, you may put your tickets in 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 4 and noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 7. For tickets, call Louise at 610-866-1611.
Jerusalem Church will also host a cash bingo 2 p.m. Nov. 16 at the church. Doors open 1 p.m. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
Get a jump on your Christmas shopping or treat yourself to something special at the Salisbury Elementary School PTO Craft and Vendor Fair 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 8. The event will be held at the high school, 500 E. Montgomery St. and will feature 50 vendors, a basket raffle and food.
National Honor Society will hold a blood drive at SHS in partnership with Miller-Keystone Blood Center 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 11.
Students must be 16 years of age with a parent permission slip and a photo ID to be eligible to give blood. Appointments are needed and can be made with Mrs. Basile or use the QR code in the community update newsletter on the district website.
Nov. 11 is Veterans Day and the Salisbury Township School District would like to honor local veterans. Veterans who are family members of students and staff or members of the Salisbury community will be treated to a full breakfast in the SES cafeteria 7:15- 8:30 a.m. Doors open 7:10 a.m.
At 8:40-9:05 a.m. veterans are invited to line the walkway to greet students as they enter the school to start their day.

If you are feeling lucky the SHS Twirlers will host a Designer Boutique Purse Bingo noon-5 Nov. 16 at Salisbury Middle School. Advance tickets are available at SalisburyTwirlingBoosters@gmail.com.
Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church welcomes the community to attend a trunk or treat event from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31. This safe, family-friendly event features decorated cars and trunks with candy treats for little ghosts and goblins. The church is located at 535 W. Emaus Ave., Allentown.
The Wildland’s Conservancy will host the first of three Campfire Conversations at the Black River Sanctuary 2-4 p.m. Nov. 4. The event includes a 1.5 mile hike to the mountaintop, a cozy campfire setting at the summit and conversation with guest speakers and/or Wildland’s Conservancy team members. This month’s topic is centered on land preservation. Registration is required at www.wildlandspa.org.
The township recycling drop off sites are open. The Devonshire site will be open Oct. 30 and Nov. 1. The Franko Farm site will be open Nov. 3, 6 and 8. Please note that starting in November the hours of operation will change. The new hours of operation will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
