As the spooky season rolls around and the air turns crisp, Emmaus is filled with fun activities while building lasting memories. This week’s updates include important events, dates and information many parents and students will be interested in.

On Oct. 31, Emmaus, Lower Macungie and Macungie will all have their yearly trick or treat 6-8 p.m., rain or shine. So bring your candy bags, best costumes and scares because Halloween is a perfect opportunity for a fun night of festive frights.

Just a reminder, Emmaus High School’s fall play “The Diary of Anne Frank,” is right around the corner. Tickets are available on the school website and there are no sales at the door. The show will run 7 p.m. Nov. 6, 7 and 8 in the EHS auditorium. Come out to support our cast and crew.

Best Mates is an organization that fosters opportunities for people with disabilities to form one-to-one friendships with students without disabilities. Best Mates aims to positively impact the lives of people with disabilities by helping them feel valued and by building more inclusive communities from childhood through adulthood. Best Mates envisions a world where people with disabilities are successfully integrated into schools and have long-lasting friendships. Please consider joining the Best Mates Club and attending the first meeting 2:35-3:30 p.m. Oct. 30 in the MMR.

The EHS Chess Club is proud to announce its annual Lehigh Valley Fall Open and Scholastic 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 8 in the EHS cafeteria. This is a high-level chess tournament expected to draw adult and scholastic players from a wide area. This tournament benefits the EHS Chess Club and Myerstown Chess Club.

The math club will offer SAT Prep for all EHS students interested in working on their SAT & PSAT test taking skills. SAT Prep will be offered every Friday during homeroom in the MMR. If interested, join the Schoology group QPVB-R6P5-VTM9B and then register to attend on the schoology group page.

The Interact Club will continue to collect soda tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Tabs can be dropped off outside of Room 216.

Habitat for Humanity will sell doughnuts and Celsius energy drinks before school in the HIVE Thursday mornings. Bring cash.

Many kids are interested in going on a school trip to a different country. There is an Italy and Greece opportunity in June 2027. Instant decision day is coming up very soon. The deadline to sign up for Millersville University is Oct. 27 and the date for the decision is Nov. 3.

For Kutztown University, sign up by Oct. 29 and the decision day is Nov. 5.

For East Stroudsburg University, sign up by Nov. 6 and the decision day is Nov. 13.

There will be early dismissal Nov. 19 and 26. And there will be no school Nov. 27 through Dec. 1.

The Interact Club is hosting an animal food drive for the Animal Food Bank of Lehigh Valley, which will be donated to families in need. The food drive will be accepting collections through Nov. 1 in the box outside of Room 216, Mrs. Kaunitz’s room. They are collecting primarily dry and wet cat and dog food, but pet food for smaller pets is also accepted and greatly appreciated. Just a reminder to all EHS students, the marking period ends Oct. 31, so make sure all assignments are handed in by that point.

As this marking period comes to an end, students are encouraged to stay on top of work especially when the holiday is coming around. With so many exciting events and opportunities happening in Emmaus, there is so much to look forward to as the fall continues. More updates will be available in the upcoming weeks.
