LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

There are ‘No Kings’ in Bethlehem

Residents marched in center city for the Oct. 18 “No Kings II’ rally, peacefully protesting President Donald Trump and his administration’s policies. It was a beautiful sunny day for the estimated 5,000 participants coordinated by Indivisible Lehigh Valley Bethlehem.

They gathered at the Bethlehem Rose Garden and proceeded along West Broad Street to North New Street, where they turned south toward Payrow Plaza.

They carried American flags and catchy signs addressing issues such as immigration enforcement, voting, dictatorship, a threatened democracy, tyranny, adhering to the U.S. Constitution and marginalized groups who have come under fire from the president. At times they chanted “no kings” and some marchers dressed in costumes. They were a mix of young and old.

Arriving at Payrow Plaza, many marchers stayed to listen to live music and enjoy camaraderie with their fellow marchers.

No matter the political party, the message remained the same. More photos on A2.
Wearing an English period outfit this marcher reminds us of the American Colonies break from an English king’s rule in the 1700s.
