FOUNTAIN HILL Nov. 15 breakfast honors veterans, first responders

“Thank you” are two small words that hold an abundance of meaning and are at the heart of the second annual Veterans/First Responders Breakfast that will be served Nov. 15 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fountain Hill.

The special morning for veterans, first responders and their families will be sponsored by St. Paul’s; Iglesia Cristiana Shekinah, an independent church which formed a partnership with St. Paul’s; and the Fountain Hill Community Coalition.

Things will get cookin’ when the doors open at 8:30 a.m. for a tasty breakfast including scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, coffee and juice.

A program that features the distribution of Certificates of Recognition will begin at approximately 10 a.m.

“We will be handing out certificates again, so we are asking that people respond if they are coming and how many in their family might be attending as well, along with their name, rank and branch of service,” Pastor Marlene Werkheiser, licensed lay minister (LLM), said.

Those planning to attend should email that information to stpaulselc@rcn.com by Nov. 7 and write “Veterans Breakfast” in the subject area.

Other upcoming events at St. Paul’s include a Healing Service Nov. 16 at 9:30 a.m., and Christmas Eve with Candlelight and Holy Communion Dec. 24 at 7 p.m.
