Gallery View: 100 for 100, Lehigh University celebrates galleries

“Here & Now: 100 Years of LUAG, 100 Local Artists,” an exhibition of jury-chosen works celebrating Lehigh University Art Galleries’ Centennial Year, continues through May 22, 2026, Main Gallery, Lehigh University Art Galleries, Zoellner Arts Center.

Of the 300 artists submitting works, 100 works were selected to be displayed in the LUAG Main Gallery. Other pieces are featured in a slide show on view at the gallery’s entrance.

The exhibition’s guest community juror is Curlee Raven Holton of Raven Fine Art Editions, Easton.

“To go into the galleries and see such a spectrum of creativity, of perspectives, of ideas and approaches to making art, and I just can’t think of a better way to celebrate such a big birthday,” said LUAG Director William Crow.

Lehigh University, a private research university founded July 27, 1865, by businessman Asa Packer, is in its 160th year.

Crow thanked Holton, participating artists, faculty, staff and attendees as he addressed the enthusiastic group that packed Zoellner Arts Center lobby at the Sept.19 “Light Up LUAG” kickoff.

Lehigh University President Joseph J. Helble, Lehigh Class of ’82; State Rep. Steve Samuelson (D-135th) and Bethlehem Community and Economic Development Director Laura Collins joined Crow in making remarks.

“Throughout human history, the way a community treats its artists is a reflection of that community,” said Collins as she presented a city proclamation. “Right now, it’s more important than ever that we have spaces like this.”

Samuelson presented the university with a state proclamation.

Celebrants enjoyed music by DJ collective Nite Liters, hands-on artmaking, a caricature artist, photo booth, snacks and drinks.
