Parkland High School students are putting the finishing touches on their production of “The Outsiders,” a stage adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s classic coming-of-age novel.
Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 17 and 18 and 3 p.m. Oct. 19 in the high school auditorium.
Set in 1960s Tulsa, Oklahoma, the story follows young Ponyboy Michael Curtis, a “Greaser” who struggles to find his place in a world divided between his working-class friends and the wealthier “Socs.”
While the Socs seem to have every advantage, Ponyboy learns that loyalty and friendship can mean everything when life feels stacked against you.
The play, adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel, captures the grit, heart, and humanity of Hinton’s beloved novel — a timeless tale of identity, belonging, and growing up.
