No Kings attracts large crowds in Kutztown
Over 500 people lined Main Street near Whiteoak Street in Kutztown last Saturday participating in the national movement dubbed “No Kings.”
Some people waved American flags while others displayed mostly homemade signs with slogans like “I like taters, I don’t like dictators.”
One veteran’s sign read ”I served this nation and now I am protesting to save it.”
Some sported foil and Burger King type crowns.
A few costumed characters including Hello Kitty and the president wove through the crowds.
The all-age crowd chanted “Love, not hate, makes America great,” and voiced some call and response chants while cars beeped their approval on the busy street.
At times, a cacophony of sound included cowbells, chants, drums and honking.
This was the second “No Kings” event in the borough and nationally as well.
Locally, other demonstrations were held in Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton.
According to the Reading Eagle, thousands participated in Wyomissing.
Philadelphia police estimated that some 15,000 people attended the demonstration there.
In New York the NYPD estimated that over 100,000 people participated throughout the city’s five boroughs.
