Municipal Election Nov. 4 - Lower Macungie Township

The following candidates are on the ballot:

•Lower Macugie Township Commissioner - 4-year term - vote for three

Democrat Stefanie Rafes

“The number one issue for Lower Macungie voters is managing growth responsibly. Our township has experienced accelerated growth, and while growth can bring opportunity, it also brings challenges: traffic congestion, flooding, loss of open space and strain on public services. Residents value the natural beauty, safety, and quality of life that make Lower Macungie special and they want to see that preserved.

“I believe we must take a proactive approach to planning, one that prioritizes open space preservation, environmental protection and infrastructure that keeps pace with development. Smart growth isn’t anti-development, it’s about ensuring that new projects are thoughtful, sustainable and aligned with the long-term vision of our township. As commissioner, I will work to balance progress with preservation so that Lower Macungie remains a safe, beautiful and thriving place for residents today and for generations to come.”

Democrat Melissa Bosak

“Based on my conversations with residents, the top concern in our community is having their voices heard and their concerns addressed by the board of commissioners. Neighbors consistently mention issues like trash, traffic and recreation - everyday challenges that directly affect their quality of life.

“When elected, I will be an engaged and accessible commissioner who listens and takes action.

“To address these and other community priorities, I’ll work collaboratively with our board, committees and local and state partners to promote responsible development, continue supporting no new warehouses and prioritize safety, environmental protection and recreation. With a background in STEM and professional experience as a manufacturing leader, I value data-driven decision-making and servant leadership. My experience in science, leadership and project management will help me serve effectively and deliver thoughtful, community-focused solutions.”

Democrat Wesley Barrett

“Lower Macungie is thriving, but we need FRESH ENERGY to continue our progress. As a business owner and longtime community leader, I bring an unmatched set of qualifications.

“Over the past eight months, I’ve knocked on hundreds of doors, speaking to residents directly about what’s important to them. Through a commitment to farmland and open space preservation, no new warehouses and expanded community engagement, we will uphold the quality of life we enjoy.

“A vote for Wesley Barrett is a vote for smart growth thinking, fiscal accountability and the FRESH ENERGY we need to keep us moving forward.”

Republican Brian L. Shoemaker

Republican Brian P. Higgins

Republican Matthew S. Guglielmello

“In today’s world, the most pressing local issue is development. As our town evolves, we must ensure it does so in a pragmatic manner that improves our quality of life. Uncontrolled development puts pressure on schools, roads, the environment and our resources leading to increased financial burden. To this end, I will strive to preserve the best aspects of our town.”

•Lower Macungie Tax Collector

Republican Lora Walmer
