Municipal Election Nov. 4 - Emmaus Borough
The following candidates are on the ballot:
•Emmaus Borough Council - 4-year term - vote for three
Democrat Megan Brehm
“The top issue for voters is the 26% property tax increase in Emmaus. Many residents are struggling to manage rising costs and this hike feels like too much, too fast. Homeowners, renters and seniors on fixed incomes worry about how they’ll keep up. People want to know where the money is going, why this increase was necessary and what steps are being taken to prevent future hikes.
“Voters want assurance their tax dollars are being spent wisely and the borough is planning responsibly for the future.”
Democrat/Republican Roy Anders Jr.
Democrat/Republican Chris A. DeFrain
Republican Neil Valois
•Emmaus Borough Council - 2-year term – vote for one
Democrat/Republican Brent Labenberg
•Emmaus Mayor
Democrat/Republican Lee Ann Gilbert
•Magisterial District Judge 31-3-03 - 6 year term
Democrat/Republican Daniel Trexler
•Emmaus Tax Collector
Democrat Kathleen Mintzer
Republican Paulette Labenberg
“I believe serving the community and responsible fiscal management are necessary for local government. It is important for the borough tax collector to provide excellent public service with efficiency and integrity.
“Being a resident of Emmaus for over 25 years and graduate of EHS, I’m invested in the financial well being of our town. As a professional retail manager of a multi-million dollar business along with a degree in business, I understand the financial acumen necessary to be successful in this role. These experiences have given me the skills and knowledge to provide excellent financial management, organizational skills and attention to detail needed to manage collection of municipal taxes.
“I will ensure all tax collections are processed efficiently and accurately. Continuing the needed education to streamline collecting, I will be accessible to the residents by expanding hours, providing helpful service to ensure smooth tax payment process for everyone.”
