Letter to the Editor: Before you vote, do your research

To the Editor:

As my team and I continue our canvassing for my write-in campaign for mayor of Alburtis, there are a few issues needing clarification.

Since 2013, it has been my honor and pleasure to serve all of the residents, Democrats, Republicans, Independents and all other individuals within our borough. I will remain impartial and unbiased as I continue to serve our residents.

I am not a social media person who posts every single action or event I have attended or volunteered at. I don’t feel I need a spotlight on doing my job as your elected mayor.

Through it all, I am not here for personal gains, photo opportunities, or any notoriety. As mayor, I am here to ensure that everyday quality of life issues are maintained.

After all, that is what we all pay taxes and utility bills for.

Residents need to know most social events planned and held within the borough are organized through the Alburtis Area Community Center, not affiliated with the Borough of Alburtis. They do social events and are under the direction of board members and coordinator.

The borough, through the council and the mayor, is the governing branch. Although the social events are fantastic and entertaining for residents, they would not happen without the essential services provided by the maintenance department, which keeps our water running, sewerage system functioning, pumps and wells operational and roads maintained. Or the support of the police department for everyone’s safety, office staff to address phone calls and advise residents with questions they may have.

Residents must be made aware of the difference between running the borough business and planning social events.

Before you vote on Nov. 4, please do your research and be well-informed. I am always here to answer your questions and be a listening ear.
