The auction notice for Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company’s Eisenhower Station says it all:
“Sound the Alarm - Fire Station Going Once, Going Twice ...”
Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company’s Fire Station with social hall and storage, 3425 Eisenhower Ave., Salisbury Township, is up for auction 11 a.m. Oct. 25, the Tom Hall Auctions, Inc. website states.
Opening bid for Eisenhower Station is $185,000, according to the Tom Hall website, which states the property will be “Guaranteed Sold at or Above the Opening Bid!”
Adds the Tom Hall website: “Don’t Miss This Rare Opportunity!”
The Eisenhower fire station, off Cedar Crest Boulevard near Interstate 78, was built in 1959. It was utilized by Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company before the opening of the new Swain Station.
“The fire company has built a new station and no longer needs this building. This creates an exciting opportunity for buyers to purchase a unique property at auction,” the Tom Hall website states. “This former fire hall offers a unique and versatile opportunity for buyers.”
Groundbreaking for the $3.6 million Swain Station, 950 S. Ott St., was Oct. 2, 2023. The Swain Station was dedicated Sept. 28, 2024.
Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company, founded in 1959, first operated out of Eisenhower Fire Station. The Swain School donated land for Swain Station in 1979 and made subsequent land donations.
An open house at Eisenhower fire station is Oct. 25, one hour before auction time. Open houses were held 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 11 and Oct. 18.
According to auction materials, the 3,120-square-foot former fire hall is on a 21,432-square foot lot. Features include: open span garage (fits two fire trucks), office area, social hall, multiple bathrooms and storage areas.
The Zoning is R3 - Medium-Low Density Residential. “All interested buyers should check with Salisbury Township to confirm zoning regulations and ensure the property meets their particular needs,” the Tom Hall website states.
According to the Tom Hall website: “Possible Uses: Conversion into a single-family home or residential use, teardown for new development, continued use for emergency services or related purposes.
“Located in Lehigh County, Salisbury Township, this property sits in a desirable area with easy access to Lehigh Valley Hospital, I-78 and many area businesses and restaurants,” the Tom Hall website states.
