Richard George Knerr

St. John’s United Church of Christ member

Richard George Knerr, 81, of Hokendauqua, died Oct. 11, 2025, at his residence. He was the husband of Carol (Zimmerman) Knerr for 60 years.

Born in Northampton, he was the son of the late George and Evelyn (Deisher) Knerr.

He graduated from Coplay High School in 1962. He graduated from Lehigh Carbon Community College with his electrician certificate.

He served in the U.S. Army for six years before being honorably discharged in 1972, earning the rank of SP5.

He worked for PP&L for 46 years as a designer draftsman. He also ran his own business — Richard Knerr Electrical — on the side.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Mickleys.

He was a member of PP&L Le-Gen Retirement Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Robin G. Anthony and husband Edward and Cindy A. Reichert and husband Brian, all of Bethlehem; a sister, Barbara R. Hummel; two brothers, Robert W. and wife Diane of Fleetwood and George C. and wife Brenda of Palmerton; and four grandchildren, Jacob Anthony, Eliana Reichert, Elizabeth Anthony and Angela Reichert.
