Karin Wahlstrom
Karin Ursula (Janssen) Wahlstrom, 84, of Allentown, died Oct. 13, 2025.
She was born in Nuernberg, Germany and after the war came to America at the age of 11 with her mother and sister. She learned English in three weeks and adjusted well to her new country.
She attended Sacred Heart Academy in Rochester, N.Y. She became an airline stewardess for Pan American World Airways and flew for 25 years. When the company went bankrupt, she was on their last flight in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil when it was all over upon their return to JFK.
She loved flying around the world from one continent to another. She spoke several languages and was making the announcements for passengers in four different ones.
She was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Allentown, and was a faith-filled strong believer in God and Our Blessed Mother. She led a Rosary group twice every week for 30 years at the Chapel of Saint Francis of Assisi; one for families and one for our country.
She came from a musical family where everyone sang together and played instruments. She played piano, accordion and guitar. Singing was her joy, being the sunshine of her family.
She is survived by Jan Christian, Hildegard K. Janssen, Christiane Selvini, Petra Kierner and family, Edith Zimmerman and family and the de Jong family.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Richard C. Brensinger 11 a.m. Oct. 24 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11th and Washington streets, Allentown, where visitation with family and friends will begin 10 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1046 W. Cedar St., Allentown.
The Gilbert Funeral Home of Whitehall is honored to handle her arrangements.
