Hokendauqua: Parade set for Oct. 23

Whitehall Township will hold its annual Halloween parade Oct. 23, starting 6 p.m., around the Whitehall-Coplay School District campus. There is a new route this year.

Attendees will enjoy floats, prizes and more.

The Haunted Hayride in the Parkway will be held 7-11 p.m. Oct. 24, 25 and 31 and Nov. 1 at Whitehall Parkway, 4689 S. Church St. There will be free parking and refreshments available.

There is a cost, but children ages 5 and under can attend for free. Discount coupons are available at whitehallfd.org.

Ironton Rail Trail Oversight Commission will have its annual fall historical walk, consisting of about 7 miles of viewing historical buildings, sites and landmarks, Oct. 25. Meet 9 a.m. at the red barn of Whitehall Parkway, 4041 Chestnut St.

Your hike leaders will be Bob Abbott and Ray Bieak. They recommend you bring water, a camera and binoculars.

Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road, will hold a trunk or treat 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 25. Whitehall Fire Department will also have an engine on site.

“Wear your best costume and join us for family fun,” the church states on its Facebook event page.

There will be food, crafts and candy.

Trick-or-treat night is set for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31. The rain date is Nov. 1.

Whitehall Township; state Rep. Jeanne McNeill, D-133rd; and state Sen. Nick Miller, D-14th, are hosting a free paper shredding event, set for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 8 at the township municipal complex, 3219 MacArthur Road; follow signs to public works.

You can bring up to five boxes or bags of personal and financial information for shredding.

This event is for residents of Whitehall Township and Coplay and Catasauqua boroughs.

Mark your calendar: Whitehall welcomes you to its annual tree-lighting ceremony at the municipal complex, set for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3. Rumor has it there will be a special guest appearance!
