Falling for autumn
A fest is defined as a festival or gathering devoted to a particular activity or interest, such as an annual food and wine festival, music festival, Oktoberfest or, as in this case, the 18th annual Best of North Catasauqua Autumnfest. The event was held Oct. 18 to celebrate the changing of the season — from summer to fall — at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St.
Autumnfest was well attended, had quality music, good food, vendors selling a variety of wares, kids games and a large vintage car show.
The well-maintained vehicles in the car show shimmered under the sunny day as proud owners shared stories about their particular automobiles. All the cars, tractors and motorcycles in the show were appealing to the eye.
An eye catcher at the car show was a well-maintined 1933 Chevrolet Master Eagle. This classic vehicle is distinguished by its prominent grille, dual side-mounted headlights and elegant body lines typical of 1930s Chevrolet designs.
Flirtin’ with the Mob, a popular local band, played its blend of popular and classic rock music. Some of the audience members were up dancing, while others were singing along to the well-known lyrics.
There were numerous vendors, including Brian and Cheryl Considine, of North Catasauqua, selling homemade shoofly pie.
Cub Scout Pack 32, of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church of Whitehall, was present with Cubs Micah and Madelynn and leader Mike, all from Whitehall. They provided literature and other items about joining the Cub Scouts.
Veronica Grossman, of Whitehall, and Jessica Gumina, of Bechtelsville, staffed their stand of Halloween wreaths for sale. Visit Ronnie Grossman’s Wreaths and More Facebook page for further details.
Judy Terplan, of Virginia Beach, was visiting her family in the Lehigh Valley at the time of the event. She and her dog Moses stopped by.
Surrounded by her lush green and healthy plants, Donna Houck, of Fountain Hill, staffed her Port-A-Gardens stand with succulents, snake plants and more. Visit her Port-A-Gardens Facebook page for more information.
The Kares Crochet vendor stand, with its owner from Fountain Hill, had handmade items for sale. Visit Kares Crochet Facebook with questions.
The event was originally set for Oct. 12 but was postponed due to inclement weather.
This year’s Autumnfest featured a beautiful fall day, family fun, entertainment and more to the delight of all attendees.
