Catty police respond to report of firearm at charter school

Catasauqua Police Department responded to a report of a “student found to be in possession of a firearm” Oct. 21 at Innovative Arts Academy Charter School, 330 Howertown Road, according to a news release that same day.

At approximately 2 p.m., police were dispatched to the scene.

“School officials secured the firearm prior to police notification,” the news release said. “Officers responded and took possession of the firearm.”

The department said the investigation is ongoing, “and there is no threat to the public or school community.”

No further information was available as of press time.
