Violet M. Covely

Violet M. Covely, one day short of 92, formerly of Allentown, died Oct. 14, 2025, in Gracedale Nursing Home, Upper Nazareth Township. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd L. Lick Sr. and Matilda E. (Dettra) Lick. She was the wife of the late Clarence P. Covely, who died in 2000.

She was a sewing machine operator at Hutt & Wassaman Hat Factory for six years and worked as a cashier at the former Jamesway in Allentown for five years. She was also proud of her service to the Salisbury Township School District in the cafeteria until the age of 77.

She was a member of St. Mark’s UCC and attended Jerusalem Western Salisbury Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed playing bingo, reading, watching the Phillies and going to the casino. Known affectionately as Nana, her true passion was caring for her grandchildren and other children in her life.

She is survived by daughters, Kathleen M. Haklar and her husband, Richard, of Coopersburg and Dawn M. Cressman, of Salisbury Township; sons, Wayne P. Sr. and his wife, Debra, of Salisbury Township and Brian K. and his wife, Brenda, of Wescosville; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra; son-in-law, Roger Cressman; two sisters and three brothers.

Arrangements are entrusted to K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, 46 E. Susquehanna St., Allentown.
