The biggest issue facing voters is concern over the state of politics in our country and the way our political system approaches solving our challenges.  I believe people are frustrated by a politics of constant anger, outrage and animosity and want bold leaders who are committed to advancing policies and ideas that can unify and move our area forward.  I believe that people want to build a new politics that isn’t about left vs. right or red vs. blue but right vs. wrong.  I’m running on One Lehigh which is about rebuilding trust and faith in government and democracy by coming together around shared principles and priorities like affordable housing, preserving open space, sustainable growth and development and standing up for everyone in our community and resisting divisive politics.  I think this moment calls for courage from our leaders to fight back against the chaos in Washington D.C.

My name is Dr. Silagh White. I’m running for re-election to one of three at-large directors seats on the Bethlehem Area School Board. I have served for one term.

The biggest challenge facing Bethlehem’s public schools isn’t a lack of expertise, effort, or heart – it’s a lack of fair funding. Teachers and students are doing incredible work, but they’re being asked to do more with less every year.

The Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court has already ruled that the state’s school funding system is unconstitutional. Yet lawmakers have failed to fix it, leaving districts like ours struggling to meet students’ needs. Staffing shortages, mental health concerns, and stretched resources all trace back to this injustice.

Presently, the State Budget impasse threatens to push us even closer to the edge. Without action, we may be forced to borrow money just to pay teachers and keep programs running. This also puts more financial burden on local taxpayers. Our students and our citizens deserve better. Fair funding isn’t optional; it’s a constitutional promise.
