Painting hearts, purse bingo and PSAT prep

Salisbury High School continues to thrive with new clubs, creative fundraisers and academic opportunities that keep Salisbury running. From spreading kindness through art to preparing for important college readiness exams, Salisbury is finding ways to make an impact both inside and outside the classroom.

One exciting addition to SHS this year is the Painting Hearts Club, created by student Aaliyah Ross. As the first of its kind, this art-based club focuses on creating art to be donated to local hospitals, shelters and community centers to spread positivity, hope and comfort. Students who are artistic, creative or simply passionate about helping others are encouraged to join. The club meets in Miss Dos’ room (Room 117) on Day 6 during Falcon Period.

The Salisbury Twirling Booster Club is also keeping busy this fall with two upcoming events. A New Family Information Night will be held at Salisbury Middle School 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14, welcoming any fifth graders and above interested in learning more about the twirlers.

Then on Nov. 16, the club will host its popular purse bingo fundraiser. Doors open noon and tickets are discounted in advance or full price at the door. Attendees can look forward to an afternoon of fun, prizes and support for Salisbury’s talented twirling champions.

In addition, Sewing for Charity recently wrapped up its fall wrist lanyard sale, held Oct. 6-14. Lanyards were perfect for keys or printer fobs. All proceeds benefit the Salisbury Angel Fund, which assists local families with expenses such as graduation fees, prom attire, school supplies and holiday drives. The sale was another great example of Falcons giving back to their community.

Finally, the PSAT/NMSQT will be administered to all students in grade 11 Oct. 22, free of charge. This important exam helps students practice for the SAT and may qualify them for scholarships, including the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program. The test will be fully digital this year, using the Bluebook app on school laptops. Students are encouraged to review their emails for upcoming practice opportunities and information about digital testing tools.

With creative new clubs, engaging community events and important academic opportunities, SHS continues to offer students a well-rounded and meaningful experience. From art and service to achievement and preparation, Falcons are spreading positivity, building connections and striving for success together.
