Friends of the Lower Macungie Library will accept book donations 1-4 p.m. Oct. 18 and 25 at the Friends shed in the parking lot.
The Friends of the Library will hold its fall book sale 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 21-22 in the Lower Macungie Library. Friends’ preview night is 5-7:30 p.m. Nov. 20. Join the Friends that night and purchase books before the weekend crowds. There will be a bag sale 2:30-4 p.m. Nov. 22. All proceeds from the sale benefit the library.
The Church of the Good Shepherd, Alburtis Road will hold its fall craft and vendor sale 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 18. There will be crafts, attic treasures, vendors, a gift basket auction, bake sale and good food.
Lower Macungie Township will hold its first trunk or treat noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 18 at Quarry Park at 7909 Quarry Road, Macungie. There will be decorated car trunks, candy giveaways, music and games.
The Macungie Minstrelaires present “Gone Country” 7 p.m. Oct. 24 and Oct. 31 and 2 and 7 p.m. Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 at Lower Macungie Middle School, 6299 Lower Macungie Road, Macungie. Trick or treating in Lower Macungie Township will be held 6-9 p.m. Oct. 31. Some homeowners associations may have set alternate dates for their neighborhoods.
Zion Lehigh Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8269 Spring Creek Road, Alburtis will host a holiday craft bazaar 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 1. There will be crafts, a basket raffle, bake sale, attic treasures and good food. Homemade food is available for eat-in or carryout.
There will be a stuff the truck event 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 1 at the Lower Macungie Community Center parking lot. Habitat LV ReStore will collect kitchen/bathroom cabinets; newer, working appliances; furniture; lighting fixtures; hardware; windows; plumbing supplies and more.
The Lower Macungie Township Senior Citizens will meet noon Oct. 21 for lunch with entertainment provided by Elvis impersonator Jeff Krick Jr. at the community center. The Thanksgiving meal will be Nov. 18. There will be a regular meeting noon Dec. 2 and Christmas dinner at Brookside Country Club Dec. 16.
The Lower Lehigh AARP will meet noon Nov. 6 in the lower level of Macungie Memorial Hall at Macungie Memorial Park. New members are welcome. For more information, contact Dot at 610-967-3284.
The Alburtis Seniors will meet noon Nov. 19 at Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Quarry Road, Alburtis. There will be a potluck buffet lunch followed by a meeting and bingo. There is a small charge. Bring a covered dish. For more information, call Doris at 610-966-3653.
The 15th annual craft/vendor fair will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 22 at the community center, 3450 Brookside Road. Over 120 crafters and vendors will participate. Food is available 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners and staff are holding the 20th annual Troop Support Program to collect donated items to send to township residents in the armed services who won’t be home for the holidays. To register a loved one in the holiday program, call 610-966-6924 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Donations of food, toiletry items, batteries, magazines and more will be accepted at the community center during that same time through Nov. 26. A list of acceptable donations is available at the community center.
The community center is collecting children’s new pajamas and books during the fall and holiday season. Items will be donated to Lehigh County Children and Youth Services. Collection bins are located in the lobby through Dec. 19.

Lower Macungie Township offers indoor pickleball at the community center gymnasium. Advance registration is required.
Open gym is available at the community center. Residents must purchase an annual membership to use the gym.
Lower Macungie Township offers many programs for adults and children. For more information, go to www.lowermac.com. Adult classes include yoga, Zumba, Pilates, martial arts and tai chi. Youth classes include cooking, cricket, tennis, martial arts, golf and tot sports. There are also many youth camps.
The community center is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Staff will be available by phone during that time. Updates will also be posted on Facebook and www.lowermac.com.
Yard waste center hours through Oct. 31 are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Hours for November are noon-5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Yard waste permits are required for drop-off. The center is located at 5536 Indian Creek Road, Macungie.
Curbside leaf collection began Oct. 13 and continues through Nov. 26. Leaves should be at the curb before 7 a.m. Mondays.
Lower Macungie Library hours are 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The library will be closed Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.
There are many toddler and preschool story times as well as children’s programs. Check the website for dates and times.
The Afternoon Book Club will meet 1-2:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the library to discuss “Educated: A Memoir” by Tara Westover. The book for Nov. 20 is “All The Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr.
The Lower Macungie Library Book Club book for 10:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 5 is “Lady Tan’s Circle of Women” by Lisa See. The book for Dec. 3 is “Holes” by Louis Sachar. The book club meets virtually.
There will be a Family Fall Fest! 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 8. There will be fall themed crafts and activities for the whole family.
Books and Beyond will meet 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at the library to discuss “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking” by Susan Cain. The next meeting will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at a location to be determined.
