Press Photo by C. Richard ChartrandThe full moon of Oct. 6 performs a hat trick of sorts. As the closest full moon to the autumn equinox of Sept. 22, the moon is considered the Harvest Moon. Its brightness allows farmers to harvest at night and also aids those who hunt, earning it the title the Hunter’s Moon. Plus, due to the position of the moon at perigee, its closest point to Earth, the Oct. 6 moon also was a super moon, according to the website SPACE.com.
