LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Halloween fun at park

Car show, yard sale feature haunting decor

Egypt Memorial Park, Hillcrest Lane and Curt Simmons Drive, had a busy Oct. 4 with an early yard sale and an afternoon Halloween car show. It was a beautiful day with the temperature topping 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Janice Mack and Linda Zeller, both of Egypt — wearing the standard pointed Halloween witch hats — staffed the admission and registration tent for the car show. Both said they were grateful for the perfect weather.

In a father/daughter team, Rick and Hannah Anthony, of New Tripoli, entered a vintage classic Pontiac car in the show. Hannah was proud to say she decorated the car in a Halloween theme, noting most of the items decorating the car were from her personal collection.

George and Virginia Ramos, of Coplay, happily worked with each other at their hot dog stand. During a brief conversation, they told The Press they have a marriage vows renewal planned very soon.

Darlene, a quality face painter, and Anna, from East Stroudsburg, had her Halloween-themed stand with skulls, ghouls and other spooky items for sale.

The Pennsylvania Outdoor Veterans sponsored the Halloween car show. The organization’s mission is “serving those who served.” Its website, paoutdoorveterans.org, says it is dedicated to providing enriching outdoor experiences for our nation’s heroes, including hiking, fishing and camping trips, as well as skills workshops and social events. Visit the website to learn more or to join.

The yard sale and community event held earlier in the day included a live band, baked goods table, and food and ice cream trucks. Proceeds benefited Egypt Park and Playground Association.

Great weather and friendly people teamed up to enjoy a holiday-themed day to raise funds for two great organizations.
