Field hockey teams prep for districts

Liberty and Freedom both saw their runs in the EPC field hockey tournament come to an end over the weekend.

The Hurricanes lost to Parkland 5-0 in the opening round and Freedom fell to Easton 6-0 to give them a week of preparation before the District 11 3A tournament gets underway.

The Hurricanes (9-10) will likely be the seventh seed in districts and could see Easton (15-2-1) in the opening round.

Freedom (8-10-1) qualified for districts by having a 7-6 league record and will likely be the eighth seed when the tournament is set. That means a potential showdown against Emmaus (18-1) if the Green Hornets come away with the EPC title.

The championship game in the EPC tournament is slated for Thursday night with Emmaus taking on Nazareth in one semifinal and Easton squaring off against Parkland in the other semifinal.
