Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. I live with my dad, Daniel, my grandmother, Veronica and my younger sister, Maddy.
Q. As a senior, do you have any specific goals you will pursue this academic year?
A. I’d like to keep my grades up and apply for leadership positions in orchestra and Tri-M.
Q. What is your favorite class at Emmaus High School? Why?
A. My favorite class was home maintenance with Mr. Smith. I enjoyed learning new things and being able to do lots of hands-on activities. Everything I learned will be valuable once I am a homeowner. I enjoyed Mr. Smith’s personality and always walked out of class with a smile. He never made anybody feel bad or uncomfortable and was always supportive.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I have been on honor roll for all three years. I received a musical leadership award my junior year.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?
A. I am in orchestra, Sinfonia and will be participating in yearbook this school year. I am also a member of National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. Participating in orchestra and Sinfonia have made my school experience very memorable. These organizations have increased my passion for music. I have found I am more confident with my skills and have been able to connect with my younger peers.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. I think my biggest challenges have always been mental ones. I’ve definitely struggled with motivation and with self confidence. Sometimes life can be too overwhelming and when I feel that way I try to take a step back and recognize everything is happening for a reason and it’s entirely OK to slow down and take a break.
Q. At this time, what are your plans for the future beyond high school?
A. I am planning on going to nursing school. I would also like to continue playing my viola and playing in community orchestras.
Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with an historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?
A. I would choose to spend an evening with Malala Yousafzai. I would choose Malala because I admire her determination and hard work. I also think she is such an inspiration to so many young girls.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered for my work ethic and my attitude.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Don’t give up. You can’t change what you’ve done but you can always start fresh.
