Dogmanits brothers finding connection
For Tanner and Talon Dogmanits, it was another typical summer and offseason.
Aside from their personal activities, the brothers spent their time away from school preparing for the football and basketball seasons for Whitehall.
Tanner, who is the junior starting quarterback, and Talon, who is a senior wide receiver, both have, and will continue to play, pivotal roles for the Zephyrs’ football team this fall.
They both will also play key roles on the Zephyrs’ basketball team this winter, and the brothers played on Whitehall’s entry in the Lehigh Valley Summer Basketball League.
The younger Dogmanits was hoping to have better chemistry with his older brother after they had an initial connection last year.
Tanner completed 129 of 201 attempts for 1,562 yards with eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions in his first year at the helm last season. The Zephyrs finished 5-7 overall, and their season ended in a 22-17 loss to East Stroudsburg South in a district Class 5A semifinal.
Through seven weeks, Tanner has completed 91 of 132 attempts for 1,495 and 16 touchdowns.
The younger Dogmanits juggled both sports in the offseason as well.
He sees the chemistry between he and his brother as a stronger bond.
“I think it would be a lot easier with my brother this year and the other receives in general because of the chemistry we are building day by day,” added Tanner before the season started. “I have been working on taking mental notes before I snap the ball and seeing what the defense is showing me.”
His older brother shares a similar feeling. Talon caught 53 passes for 869 yards with six touchdowns, and he also ran for 103 yards on 10 carries with a pair of touchdowns last year. This season, he has 33 catches for 580 yards and nine touchdowns through the first seven weeks.
“I think [the chemistry] will be easier because there is more chemistry and both have gotten stronger and faster, so we will be better,” Talon said before the season started.
