Allen/East Allen townships: Anniversary event planned for Oct. 12
The 297th anniversary event of the Craig Settlement is scheduled for 1-3 p.m. Oct. 12 at Horner’s Cemetery, 4965 Nor-Bath Blvd., East Allen Township, behind God’s Missionary Church.
The Craig family arrived 297 years ago. With friends, they started a settlement and formed the county’s first continuous congregation and built the first continuous church by name and cemetery.
The rain date will be Oct. 19.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church’s autumn basket social will be held 4-8 p.m. Oct. 17 and then 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 18 at the church, 1335 Old Carriage Road, Kreidersville. The themed baskets will delight everyone!
The kitchen will be open to serve tasty fall favorites and delicious baked goods for eat-in or takeout.
This sale benefits Water Street Mission, which provides emergency shelter, residential transitional housing, a health clinic and food bank to serve the homeless and those in need.

St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 8142 Valley View Road, Seemsville, is planning a drive-thru chicken barbecue dinner, set for Oct. 25. The pickup windows are 4:30-5 p.m. or 5:15-5:45 p.m. Meals will be ready and placed in your car.
Dinners, made by Lorah’s Pig Roasters and Farm Market, include half of a barbecue chicken, baked potato, coleslaw and dessert.

East Allen Township will hold a trunk or treat 6-8 p.m. Oct. 25 at Bicentennial Park West. Any decorated cars must arrive by 5:15 p.m., and participants must be ready to give out candy by 6 p.m.
Plan to stay for the whole event. There will be prizes for best costume and best trunk. There will be kids crafts and a costume parade, with pets included.

Looking ahead: East Allen Township Recreation Department is planning trips in December. The first will be Dec. 6 to see “Deck the Halls” at American Music Theatre, with lunch at Hershey Farms.
The other trip is to a Hallmark Christmas convention Dec. 13 at New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison, N.J. Meet your favorite movie stars from the Hallmark network.
