Lehigh Valley Health Network
Drive-through flu shots available
Lehigh Valley Health Network, part of Jefferson Health, will administer free influenza vaccinations for the 28th straight year for adults and children age 6 months and older during two drive-through flu shot clinics in October. Vaccines will be administered at Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Hecktown Oaks in Lower Nazareth Township on Saturday, Oct. 11, and the Integrated Health Campus in Upper Macungie Township on Sunday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
In addition to free vaccinations, LVHN is once again partnering with area food banks and shelters to accept donations of unexpired, nonperishable food items during each of the drive-through sessions. While people are encouraged to support those in need, food donations are optional and not required to receive a shot.
Volunteers also will be collecting other items to assist those in need in our community. These include things like diapers, personal hygiene products (e.g., toothbrushes), coffee pods and disinfectant wipes.
The vaccination routes for LVH–Hecktown Oaks and Integrated Health Campus are available at LVHN.org/flushot.

First in region to use AI for x-rays at all ERs
St. Luke’s University Health Network, a national leader in the use of artificial intelligence, has adopted new AI technology to assist in the review of emergency department X-ray images to identify bone trauma such as fractures, dislocations, effusions and lesions.
The Network is the first in the region to deploy the new diagnostic tool – Gleamer BoneView AI – at all of its acute care hospital ERs and Care Now walk-in urgent care centers.
Clinical studies have shown that Gleamer BoneView AI reduces missed fractures by up to 30%.
St. Luke’s introduced the technology at some of its hospital emergency departments late last year. With the recent installation at the St. Luke’s Grand View campus in Sellersville, it is now in use at all of St. Luke’s hospital emergency rooms.
