The Parkland High School girls volleyball team is looking to get back to its tradition of winning gold in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference and District 11, specifically at districts, where it had won 10 consecutive titles before falling in the final last season to Liberty. The Trojans were shutout of trophies in 2024, coming up just short at EPCs as well.
Parkland opened its 2025 regular season on the road and began the year in style, sweeping Allen in straight sets last Tuesday, Aug. 26, by scores of 25-11, 25-11 and 25-17. The next night, however, did not go as well, as the Trojans fell in straight sets to defending conference champ Central Catholic last Wednesday by scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 25-21.
In the victory over the Canaries, Riley Schilling led the attack with a team-high eight kills. Genevieve Supeck finished with five kills and both Gabby Nissen and Sami Walls tallied four kills. Josee Kim and Gabby Brader combined for 26 assists with Kim totaling 16 and Brader 10. Chloe Coonradt led the defense with 11 digs.
In the match with the Vikettes, Nissen recorded a team-best eight kills and Kasia Burda contributed seven kills. Kim dished out 16 assists offensively.
Parkland, which is 1-1 overall and in the conference, was at Bethlehem Catholic Wednesday night and travels to Whitehall for a Friday afternoon match. The Trojans then compete in the Bulldog Invitational Saturday at Wilson West Lawn High School.
