LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

SHS girls soccer falls to ND, Bangor

The Salisbury girls soccer team ran into a pair of tough teams last week. Notre Dame of Green Pond (6-3-1) and Bangor (10-2-0) both made life tough on the Salisbury offense with both teams grabbing shutout wins.

The Falcons defense stood strong against Notre Dame and held the Crusaders to just two first half goals, but some halftime adjustments led to four second half goals as Notre Dame walked away with a 6-0 win.

Kacie Kaough, the Falcon goalie, was a big part of the story as she made 15 saves to keep the Crusaders from putting the game away early.

Kaough is a junior who is also on the Falcons’ girls tennis roster this fall.

She has stepped up this season to become a defensive leader for Salisbury.

It was hoped that being on their home turf for the game against Bangor would help the Falcons, but the Slaters are one of the top teams in the Colonial League. They have already clinched a spot in districts and are closing in on a league playoff spot.

The game got away from Salisbury as Bangor headed home with a 9-0 win over Salisbury.

The Lady Falcons are 1-6-0 both in league play and overall, this season. The schedule makers gave Salisbury a bit of a breather before throwing the team right back into the fire.

The upcoming schedule has games at home against Palmerton (2-7 overall, 1-7 Colonial) and Pen Argyl (1-7, 0-7) and then a trip to defending league, district and state champ Northwestern Lehigh (10-0, 7-0) on Saturday.
