Salisbury football team blanked by Crusaders

The Salisbury football team dropped to 1-1 on the season after a 63-0 loss to Notre Dame (Green Pond) last Friday.

The Crusaders (2-0) took a 35-0 first-quarter lead and were ahead 49-0 at halftime. They did most of their damage through the air with 252 passing yards to 87 rushing yards. Senior quarterback Matt Bodnar completed 11 of 13 passes for 177 yards five touchdowns. Sophomore Tommy Murphy threw two passes in the game for 75 yards with both going the distance.

All five Notre Dame receivers that caught passes in the game scored, including Jonathan Striba (5 receptions, 131 yards, 2 TD), Drew Boyd (3-79, TD), CJ Diaz (3-29, 2 TD), Caden Ditze (1-8, TD) and Alex Clark (1-6, TD).

The Falcons posted a negative rushing total in the game (minus-3 yards) with four passing yards and negative-9 rushing yards. The Crusaders made 10 tackles for loss in the game.

The Falcons, which beat Panther Valley (0-2) in the season opener, will have an extra day to prepare for their next outing as they travel to Wilson Saturday, Sept. 6 for a noon kickoff.
