Salisbury field hockey team stays unbeaten
Through the first three games of the field hockey, season Salisbury outscored its opponents 16-0 as the offense and defense both played at high levels.
In the last week, two teams actually scored goals against the Falcons. That didn’t slow the winning season that the team has put together in the early going.
The Salisbury offense also was not deterred as it continued to roll and needed just two games to score the same number of goals it scored over the first three games.
Northern Lehigh (0-6 Colonial, 0-7 overall) became the first team to record a goal against Salisbury, but the Bulldogs were unable to stop the Falcon offense and fell 10-1 to the Falcons.
Seniors Gwyn DeFazio and Kendra Morgan led the offense with DeFazio scoring four times and Morgan adding three goals in the game. The offense is more than just seniors though as juniors Katie Carbone and Ellie Schneider got in on the scoring, as did sophomore Anna Grubb.
The Falcons moved to 5-0 in both the Colonial League and overall on the season when they faced Wilson (3-3, 3-3) and came away with a 6-2 win over the Lady Warriors. Statistics for the game were not available.
Through the early going, DeFazio leads the team with nine goals and four assists on the season through the win over Northern Lehigh. Morgan has a total of five goals and two assists for Salisbury.
The Falcons have two games coming up this week as they travel to Moravian Academy (0-4-2, 0-4-2) and then play at Liberty (4-1 EPC, 4-3 overall) in a tough nonleague battle.
