PHS XC posts top 10 times at home meet

The Parkland cross country teams opened the 2025 season with one of the fastest races that’s ever been run on the Trojans’ home course.

Junior Colin McGuigan set a blistering pace on his way to eclipsing a course record and leading two other runners to earn a spot on the top 10 boys times ever run on the Parkland course.

Parkland junior Harshita Keerthi also led a rapid pace in the girls race, where four runners made the all-time course top 10 list.

McGuigan finished in 17:10.39 to take first place and eclipse the course record of 17:34.50 set by 2023 graduate Ethan Willard in October of 2022.

Easton’s Evan Guydish took second place at the meet last Tuesday and earned third place on the course record list with a time of 17:37.25. Logan McEvoy finished third in the race in 18:03.80, which earned the Trojan senior the ninth spot on the all-time course top 10. Also contributing to Parkland’s team score at the meet were Jaiden Zabler (fourth), Alexander Abosamra (fifth) and Cole Orloski (sixth).

Parkland runners finished in eight of the top nine places in the boys varsity race.

In the girls race, Keerthi finished first in 20:04.8, which is the third-fastest girls time ever run on the course. Easton’s Lyla Knoble (20:27.18) and Lama Mahmoud (20:34.54) finished second and third to earn a spot on the course top 10 list.

Parkland’s Emma Carlson was fourth in 21:05.44, which puts her 10th on the all-time course record list. Rounding out Parkland’s top five last week were Violet Forte (seventh), Dani Schultz (11th) and Lilah Ellis (12th).

The Trojans boys team went 3-0 at the meet with wins over Nazareth (15-50), Easton (19-44) and Northampton (15-50). Parkland’s girls team was 2-1 with wins over Nazareth (15-50) and Northampton (17-45) along with a loss to the Rovers (24-33).

Other Parkland boys runners not mentioned above who are part of the top 10 course times include graduates Liam McGuigan (17:47.80), Jorge Rinker (17:53.04), Brian Warren (17:54.70), Jake Barnes (17:57.40), Benjamin Esquieres (18:02.0) and Paul Abeln (18:42.20).

The girls course record list, which is topped by Emmaus graduate Hailey Reinhard (19:17.0) and Hornet senior Mady McCartney, also includes PHS grad Lana Hurwitz, who holds the fourth-fastest time at (20:08.5).
