LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Neighbors unite for Community Day celebration

South Whitehall previously celebrated Sunset to Summer, an event that closed summer with two free concerts, a Vendor Fair Trail, awesome kids’ entertainment, crafts, food trucks and of course live music.

Family Safety Day was a long-running event planned by Emergency Services Management. It combined fun family activities with emergency preparedness education and giveaways and was outgrowing its location at Fernwood Park.

With Family Safety Day needing a new location and being only a few weeks apart from Sunset to Summer, South Whitehall Township decided to merge these two great events and create a Community Day event for residents.

The event was held Sept. 27 at Covered Bridge Park by the basketball court entrance. There was a Vendor Fair Trail, inflatables, crafts, face painters, balloon twister, junior firefighter games, CPR and safety skills and food trucks – Grateful Dogs, Bad Bones BBQ, Batch Micro-creamery, Firehouse Coffee and the Wondering Tavern. There was a demonstration by KidStrong Allentown, Jr. Firefighter Games, Music from Flirtin’ with the Mob in the pavilion. Some of the sponsors were: Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital, Service Electric, Tiffany Nelson Realty, Keystone Consulting Engineers and Kuhnsville Car Wash donated goods.
