Falcon football team falls to Catty
The Salisbury football team lost 33-7 to Catasauqua last Friday night.
The Falcons fell behind 12-0 in the first quarter before quarterback Keaten Frye completed a 14-yard touchdown pass to AJ Moren to cut into the Rough Rider lead.
But that was the only points the Falcons managed as the Catasauqua defense allowed just 205 yards in the game and forced three turnovers on a pair of interceptions and a fumble.
Catty tolled up 294 yards of offense in the game, including 209 yards on the ground. The Rough Riders didn’t commit any turnovers in the win.
Jarrod Blunt led the Falcons’ rushing game with 91 yards on 13 carries, while Frey ran for 40 yards on 10 carries while completing six of 15 passes for 88 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.
Jamanni Cruz caught four passes for 59 yards for Salisbury.
The Falcons (2-2) will head to Tamaqua Friday night to face a 1-3 Blue Raider team that’s faced a difficult early-season schedule with losses to North Schuylkill, Jim Thorpe and Pen Argyl to go with an upset win over Pottsville two weeks ago.
Quarterback Chase Serfass runs the Raider offense. The senior has completed 24 of 56 passes for 265 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions this season.
Sophomore Terrence McDowell is Tamaqua’s primary ballcarrier with 113 carries for 580 yards and seven scores this season. He’s run for 100 yards or more in three of the Raiders’ four games.
The run-heavy Tamaqua offense averages 66 passing yards per game and 192 yards on the ground, while the Falcons average 73 passing yards and 129 rushing yards per game.
