Emmaus girls tennis team bounces back from first loss

After suffering its first loss of the season last week, the Emmaus girls tennis team won its next two matches to improve to 15-1 overall this season and 13-1 in East Penn Conference play.

The Hornets beat Saucon Valley last Friday, 5-0.

Sophia Kaufman, Zoe Santana and Kate Kapp won singles matches for Emmaus against the Panthers. The doubles team of Brooke DiGiacomo and Nat Hillegass was victorious at No. 2 doubles. Fiona Harvey and Avary Puliatte won the No. 3 doubles match. Riya Patel and Emily Kaufman won the alternate doubles match.

Emmaus pulled out a 4-3 win over Nazareth last Thursday.

Gab Tranguch earned the Hornets’ only singles win against the Blue Eagles. DiGiacomo/Hillegass, Harvey/Santana and Kapp/Puliatte all won doubles matches to help pull out the match.

Central Catholic handed the Hornets their first loss of the season last Tuesday, 4-3.

Tranguch won the No. 3 singles match against the Vikings, while DiGiacomo/Hillegass and Harvey/Santana picked up doubles wins.

The team has matches scheduled this week against Parkland (Monday) and Blue Mountain (Friday, nonleague). The EPC Championships are scheduled for Wednesday.
