Emmaus field hockey shuts out AH, PV

The Emmaus field hockey team heads into the final few weeks of the field hockey season at 11-0 overall and 9-0 in East Penn Conference play.

The Hornets beat Abington Heights in a nonleague game Saturday, 12-0.

Riley Povilaitis scored the Hornets first two goals in the win and added a third in the second half. Gracie Huffer scored two of her three her goals in the first quarter to give Emmaus a 4-0 lead.

Sadie Nawarynski got in on the scoring with a goal in the second quarter and another in the third. Marissa Gigliotti, Kate Rainford, Madi Lenig and Lovey Pilarski scored one goal each in the win.

Povilaitis, Lenig, Gigliotti and Alex Jensen all had two assists each against Abington Heights. Huffer, Sarah Palazzo and Rainford assisted on one goal each.

Emmaus outshot Abington 62-0 and had a 22-0 edge in penalty corners.

The Hornets beat Pleasant Valley last Friday, 13-0.

Povilaitis and Huffer both had hat tricks in the win. Elena Rosato had two goals against the Bears, while Ella Horner, Gigliotti, Palazzo, Nawarynski and Elsey Truckenmiller had one goal each.

Huffer also assisted on three goals against PV. Teammates Jensen (2), Povilaitis (2), Horner, Morgann Orobono, Lenig, Gigliotti and Pilarski also had assists in the win.

Emmaus outshot the Bears 48-0 and had 12 corner’s to PV’s 0.

Through last week’s games, Povilaitis leads the team with 51 points on 19 goals and 13 assists. Huffer is next with 37 points on 14 goals and 9 assists. Gigliottie has 36 points (11 goals, 14 assists). Lenig has 26 points (5 G, 14 A). Horner has 25 points (7 G, 11 A). Orobono has 23 points (8 G, 7 A).

Goal keepers Aiko Price and Emily Romano have faced just 15 shots this season. Price, a senior, has allowed no goals on one shot in 2025. Romano has allowed three goals on 14 shots while posting nine shutouts through 11 games.
