EHS girls tennis stays unbeaten

The Emmaus girls tennis team remains unbeaten after recent wins over Liberty, Pleasant Valley and Stroudsburg.

The Hornets are one of three unbeaten teams in the East Penn Conference and one of two in District 11 Class 3A.

Emmaus beat Liberty 5-2 Saturday. Gab Tranguch earned a singles win against the Hurricanes, while the doubles teams of Brooke DiGiacomo and Nat Hillegass; Fiona Harvey and Zoe Santana; Katy Kapp and Emily Kaufman; and Avery Puliatte and Riya Patel all won their matches.

The Hornets shut out Pleasant Valley 6-0 last Thursday.

Sophia Kaufman, Anshi Kanani and Tranguch won singles matches. The doubles teams of DiGiacomo/Hillegass, Harvey/Santana, Kapp/Emily Kaufman and Puliatte/Patel also won matches against the Bears.

In a 6-1 win over Stroudsburg last Tuesday, Kanani and Tranguch won singles matches, while all four doubles teams were also victorious.

Central Catholic and Nazareth are also both still unbeaten heading into the final few weeks of the season.

Emmaus will face the Vikettes and Blue Eagles in consecutive matches on Sept. 16 (at EHS) and Sept. 18 (at Nazareth). The Hornets also have a season finale against Parkland (7-1) coming up on Sept. 22.
